The mini-series Tapie, available on Netflix from September 13, follows the journey and many lives of former businessman Bernard Tapie (played by Laurent Lafitte).
In order to separate fact from fiction in this fictional series inspired by authentic facts, AlloCiné invites you to watch seven highlights from the program. Did Bernard Tapp really appear on multiple shows with Michelle Polnareff? Was he really a TV host?
How many children did Bernard Tapie have?
In Tapie on Netflix, our protagonist is first married to Michelle (played by Ophelia Colby), with whom he has a young daughter, Stephanie. After their tumultuous breakup, Bernard Tap rebuilds his life with Dominique (played by Josephine Japp, who spoke to AlloCiné). They have a son together named Laurent.
In our reality, Bernard Tap had two children with Michelle Laek: Nathalie (born February 16, 1968) and Stephane (born August 9, 1969). During her second marriage to Dominique Mialet-Damiano, she had a second son Laurent (born October 7, 1974) and a second daughter Sophie (born February 20, 1988).
Bernard and Dominique Tapp, in turn, met when he worked for one of Monsieur’s companies. After problems with one of his bosses, he would join the team of a businessman seven years older than him. He was actually married at the time and she wasn’t available either… so their official connection wasn’t instant.
Did Bernard Tap really visit prosecutor Eric de Montgolfier in the middle of the night?
Yes, the confrontation between Bernard Tapp and Eric de Montgolfier really took place. But the series still took a lot of liberties with how it came out face-to-face.
First of all, the former businessman did not suddenly arrive at the prosecutor’s office in Valenciennes, because their meeting was organized through his lawyer. But this meeting actually took place at night, at the request of Tapia, who did not want to be recognized or seen by the press.
The tone of the conversation has also changed. Bernard Tapp, shown dangerously in the series, was quite friendly, not to mention charming, during his meeting with Eric de Montgolfier. The latter also explained to our colleagues Marianna to be shamed aside “shower” and “Mockingbird” His role in the Netflix series.

Was Bernard Tapp really a TV presenter?
You might be wondering if Bernard Tapp was really a TV host? The good answer is yes! Although the Netflix series is making a change by renaming the show “Success” and the reality show dedicated to the former businessman was called “Ambitions”.
Aside from this change, a scene showing Tapp attending rehearsals for his show while negotiating with striking unions at his Wonder factory is apparently completely fictional.

Did Bernard Tapp really get married the day after OM won the Champions League?
Here again the truth has been largely recycled. Thus, Bernard and Dominique Tapie said “I do” to each other on May 23, 1987, six years before Olympique de Marseille won the Champions League final and a year after purchasing the club at the request of the mayor of Marseille.
It should be noted here that the wedding of the Tapp couple took place in small groups, in front of a circle of close friends, on board the yacht Phokea on the coast of Greece (where Dominique is, who is never mentioned in the series).
That’s why no OM players were at Bernard Tapie’s wedding, and certainly not Didier Deschamps (who played for FC Nantes at the time) and even less the hero of the final, Basile Bol (AJ Auxerre defender until 1990).

Did Bernard Tapiet really want to solve the problems in the cities by organizing tea parties?
The appointment of Bernard Tapp as city minister is absolutely true. But the latter’s political journey has at least been simplified, not to mention caricatured. His idea of providing food for disadvantaged urban youth does not figure prominently in his plan, which was presented to Prime Minister Pierre Beregovoy in the spring of 1992.
The series only briefly returns to this ministerial status, which was marked by the onset of legal cases that forced him to resign within weeks of his appointment, before the dismissal of the case allowed him to be reinstated.
The conditions of his departure from the government are completely fictitious. The series suggests that Tapp was expelled by François Mitterrand himself. In fact, the latter’s mandate simply ended with the victory of the RPR in the legislative elections of March 1993 and the appointment of Edouard Baladur as Prime Minister.

Did Bernard Tapp really appear on a variety show?
After his military service, Bernard Tapp was 23 years old in 1966. He managed to sign a contract with the RCA record company and released his first 45 rpm. He also decides to change the pronunciation of the surname, which becomes Tapi and is called “Tapail”.
He spends time with young singers who have flourishing careers. Among them is Michel Polnareff, who beat him to radio play with this piece Passport to the sun (Green Berets). Unfortunately, Bernard Tapp will not succeed in his music career…
Did Bernard Tapie really start the Cœur Assistance service?
After fearing for his father’s life in the TV series, Bernard Tappy founded Cœur Assistance with his colleague Maurice Messeghe. Their promise is to offer emergency medical care within thirty minutes of check-in. Unfortunately, due to his increasingly shaky organization, he becomes the target of doctors’ orders and ends up in court. This company should be closed and condemned.
In 1974, Bernard Tappy created Cœur Assistance. Always free of charge, this service allows you to notify emergency services if a person is having a heart attack using an alarm activation box. In 1976, a man who subscribed to the subscription died because he could not support…
In 1981, he was sentenced to a year’s probation for violating company law and false advertising. Indeed, Bernard Tapie invented five ambulances when he only had two… the latter will still be amnestied thanks to President François Mitterrand.

The Tapie miniseries is now only available on Netflix.
