Sports activities on the fields of section 3 of the Orla are suspended

Since the early morning of Thursday 28th, teams from the Municipal Department of Urban Cleaning (DMLU) have been working to clean the site

The Municipality of Porto Alegre, through the Municipal Department of Sport, Leisure and Youth (SMELJ), has suspended activities on the sports fields of section 3 of the Orla. The definition, valid from Thursday 28th and over the weekend, comes after the level of Guaíba rose due to the rains that hit the capital in recent days. The Orla skatepark was slightly affected and remains available for sporting activities as usual.

“This measure aims to clean the promenade and courtyards and also to ensure the safety of the population, since there are branches, trunks and pieces of glass scattered everywhere. We want to hand over the site to the population as soon as possible” says SMELJ secretary Débora Garcia.

Since the early morning of Thursday 28th, the teams of the Municipal Urban Cleaning Department (DMLU) have been working to clean section 3 of the Waterfront. The site receives sludge scraping, waste sweeping and removal of accumulated materials services.

After having cleared the shore of waste and dried the fields, the structures will be evaluated and a forecast can then be estimated for the resumption of sporting activities on the stretch.
