Harry Potter: Visit the Real Places That Created Hogwarts on the Big Screen

Hogwarts, its houses, its teachers and its most secret corners remain symbols of the Harry Potter saga, both literary and cinematic! And if author J.K. Rowling herself drew a map of the location for the needs of the film crew, the set designers had to find a real castle to serve as the exterior of the building.

Most of the scenes in the courtyard – especially the broom lessons or the students talking while walking under the arcades – were filmed Alnwick Castle :

Hogwarts School also used a model based on the plans and architecture of the castle and temple to maintain consistency between the two buildings and allow for overall shots of the school. This will also significantly reduce costs. Because if Alnwick will be used in the first three films of the magical saga, the castle scenes will be mostly filmed in the studio in the later parts.

The famous “Great Room”, which unites four houses, but also classrooms, was created in the studio of Warner (Can be visited around London) and very specific scenes, such as when Harry climbs onto the roof of the school from the Goblet of Fire, were shot entirely at Shepperton Studios in the United Kingdom.

If you want to visit the area around Hogwarts, you should also go to Scotland. Indeed, Loch Shiel is used in the lake scene in Prisoner of Azkaban, Hagrid’s hut was located in Glen Coe, also in Scotland, and the viaduct that takes students to Hogwarts in several films is Glenfinnan Viaduct – which is also the birthplace of the Macleods in the Highlander world.

While the Harry Potter series is being made and J.K. A new adaptation of Rowling’s works will be offered, and if the cast of the first saga is expected to make a small appearance, it will certainly be in other roles. Some are already in favor, while others are fundamentally against it.

However, we do not know who will play Harry, Ron, Hermione and their friends, as the project is only in the writing phase. Each season will be followed by a novel, giving us a total of seven seasons to watch. In joy or surprise? Only the future will tell!
