Coudet admits to betting on the Libertadores, teases Fluminense and underlines Inter’s performance

Coudet talked about the defeat at the Brasileirão and the next match against the Libertadores. Against Atlético-MG, Inter used a full reserve team

Inter coach, Eduardo Coudet, praised the team despite the 2-0 defeat against Atlético-MG, on Saturday evening (30), in Beira-Rio, in the Brazilian championship. Against Galo, Inter used a completely reserve team and suffered a setback towards the end of the match. The Argentine admitted that the focus is mainly on the Libertadores, but he also has reservations about the Colorado team.

Speaking about the focus on the Copa Libertadores, Coudet highlighted that Fluminense also used their reserves and were defeated 3-0 in this round by Cuiabá. The Argentine defined next Wednesday’s match as “the most important of the year” for Inter.

– I think we all feel the same way. I’m speaking for myself and I think you (journalists) are also more focused on Wednesday’s match. It’s hard to get out of it. Our rival that we will face took three. It’s very difficult, isn’t it? The match before such an event. Regarding the defeat against Atlético-MG and also the bad phase of the Brasileirão, Coudet stated that Inter played a good match, but repeated the mistake of wasting many opportunities. He said the performance had positive points, even with a full reserve team, but fell short in the attacking department. Under Coudet, Inter scored just seven goals in 10 Brasileirão matches.

– We knew the importance of winning. We tried, even with 11 changes. We always want to avoid mistakes, but they happen. We lost undeservedly… We struggle to score goals. We created chances, obviously thanks to their goalkeeper, but also to our shortcomings. We must continue to work to generate more proposals. We have quality players, with good decision-making power.

With the defeat, Inter remains on 29 points, in 14th place, four points behind Bahia, the top team in Z-4. As the group progresses, Inter could lose further positions. Now Colorado is preparing to face Fluminense next Wednesday (4) in Beira-Rio, at 9.30pm, in the second leg of the Libertadores semi-final.
