Officially forecast inflation in September was 0.35%, 0.07 percentage points above August’s 0.28% rate. The Broad National Consumer Price Index-15 (IPCA-15), published this Tuesday (26) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), amounts to 3.74% during this year and 5% in the last 12 months . In August the cumulative value over 12 months was 4.24%.
Six of the nine product and service groups reviewed were released in September. The 5.18% increase in petrol prices meant that transport had the largest impact on the IPCA-15, accounting for 0.41 percentage points of the result. The real estate group increased by 0.30%, with a deceleration compared to the previous month, equal to 1.08%.
In the health and personal care sector, with an increase of 0.17%, noteworthy is the increase in the health plans item of 0.71%, due to the adjustments authorized by the National Complementary Health Agency (ANS) for plans stipulated before of Law nÂș 9.656/98, which provides for private health and insurance plans, with retroactive effect from July. “Thus, in the September IPCA-15, the monthly fractions of the old plans for the months of July, August and September were allocated”explains the IBGE.
Food at home
According to the IBGE survey, food at home decreased by 1.25% for the third consecutive month. The food and beverage group saw a decline of 0.77%. Among the products that contributed to bringing down prices are potatoes (-10.51%), onions (-9.51%), carioca beans (-8.13%), long-life milk ( -3.45%), meat (-2.73%) and chicken pieces (-1.99%).
The IBGE also published the IPCA-E, equivalent to the IPCA-15 accumulated in the July, August and September quarters, equal to 0.56%.
