One of the greatest directors of all time, Martin Scorsese He always gives his opinion on his vision regarding the film industry around the world and always criticizes and praises him. Now, the 80-year-old filmmaker has commented on how he doesn’t like using the term “independent film.”
To promote the release of the next film in his career, titled Flower Moon Assassins, Scorsese talked to IndieWire how the term in question brings an unnecessary label to people’s respective works.
“The thing is, it would be great to see not just blockbusters on the big screen, franchises on the big screen, but also what they now consider ‘indie films.’ I don’t like that title,” said the legendary director.
“I think this categorizes, classifies. I think they are films for everyone, and I would love to see support from cinemas, especially, that would allow people to want to go to the cinema and see a film that is not necessarily a blockbuster that needs a giant screen, ” continued Scorsese.
I’m glad it’s on a giant screen, but otherwise cinemas are only good for action films. That’s all I care about.
