The actor reviews his iconic character taking advantage of the premiere of ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ and the anniversary of ‘The Lost World: Jurassic Park’
The third installment of ‘Jurassic World’ has swept its first weekend of release amassing more than 400 million dollars, demonstrating that the return of the leading trio formed by Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum has outweighed the bad reviews shown in the first reactions to ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’.
This new film marks the return of the original cast of ‘Jurassic Park’ 29 years later and together again for the first time. But each one, separately, had already returned to the franchise in their own way. Sam Neill was the protagonist of the third chapter of the saga, ‘Jurassic Park III’, a film that he recently valued considering it tremendously undervalued (Sam Neill: 5 confessions about the ‘Jurassic Park / World’ saga). Laura Dern also appeared in that same film, although in a very small cameo in which Dr. Ellie Sattler did not share the screen Alan Grant.
However, it is Jeff Goldblum who has appeared in more films in the series. In addition to ‘Jurassic Park’, ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ and ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’, The actor recovered his slightly crazy mathematical theorist character to star in the original sequel, ‘The Lost World: Jurassic Park’, which turns 25.
‘Jurassic Park 2’, the only sequel directed by steven spielberg If we don’t count the saga of ‘Indiana Jones’, it placed us on another island other than Nublar, Sorna Island, where John Hammond (Richard Attemborough) and InGen bred the dinosaurs before moving them to the main park. Once the park went bankrupt, the dinosaurs now live freely on the island. Ian Malcolm will travel to the island after the disappearance of his girlfriend, Dr. Sarah Harding (Julianne Moore), on a rescue mission in which he will have to face the dinosaurs again and a group of poachers who are trying to capture them.
Jeff Golblum (who recently recreated his iconic shirtless pose) is in the midst of a promotional campaign for ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’, and in an interview for Variety wanted to reveal some secrets about his character Ian Malcolm and various anecdotes about the 25th anniversary of ‘The Lost World: Jurassic Park’.
‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ will be the first movie that the children of Golblum will see in the cinema
Jeff and Emilie Goldblum have two children, ages 5 and 7, and both have watched both ‘Jurassic Park’ and its sequel, starring their father, at home. Nevertheless Jurassic World: Dominion will be his first experience in a movie theater, and it’s hard to tell who’s more excited, Jeff or his kids.
“This morning I mentioned it to him again: ‘Remember what we do tomorrow.’ that Dad will take him out of the theater for a little walk if he gets scared. He said, ‘Well, maybe it’s a long walk.'”
His kids’ favorite scene from ‘Jurassic Park 2’ is when he, Morre and Vince Vaughn (playing photographer Nick Van Owen) hold the baby T-Rex in the trailer and the adult T-Rexes push the vehicle off the cliff , with our protagonists saving themselves at the last moment. “They keep asking me: How did you do that?” Goldblum says.
The experience of shooting ‘Jurassic Park 2’ with Spielberg
“I love ‘Jurassic Park 2’. Julianne Moore is fantasticRichard Schiff, Vince Vaughn and Pete Postlewaithe too… I had seen Pete in a London theater doing the play ‘Little Voice with Jane Horrocks, he was definitely a great actor.’
“Vanessa Lee Chester, who plays my daughter Kelly Curtis, is wonderful, recently appeared at one of my jazz concerts and I was very happy to see her. And it was the second movie I shot with Steven Spielberg. Working with him couldn’t have been more sweet, personable, inspiring and educational.”
Where are all of Ian Malcolm’s children?
Jeff Goldblum’s character states in ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ that He has 5 children, although they do not appear on the screen. The actor theorizes about what Ian Malcolm’s fatherly instinct is like: “I think I’m a good father and I’m involved in their lives, it’s just that I’m deep into a very risky mission and they’re not with me. I wish they were, but not in danger. I have to do ‘my thing’ with the dinosaurs to keep them safe.”
How has Ian Malcolm evolved?
“We have never seen Ian so determined to fight so fiercely against greed and stupidity, especially in the misuse of resources and scientific achievements.. It’s a real battle royale and, once again, a test of survival. But he is willing to do it.”
