The World After Us is the first fiction film produced by Higher Ground Productions, a family company Obamawhich previously focused on children’s programs, documentaries and historical dramas. Sam Esmailcreator of Mr Robot (2015), is responsible for directing, with a screenplay adapted from the 2020 novel by Rumaan Alam.
The film shows how a family vacation (Ethan Hawke, Julia Roberts, Farrah Mackenzie It is Charlie Evans) find themselves disturbed by two strangers (Mahershala Ali It is Myha’la Herrold) who, after a cyber attack, seek refuge. The experience, however, begins to become increasingly macabre when everyone begins to realize that the world, without any possibility of negotiation in sight, is collapsing.
