Netflix: This romantic comedy is a hit on Netflix, and it was written by the actor of Scorpion!

Netflix subscribers especially love romantic comedies (and it doesn’t matter the quality…). This week it’s Love is the Air , currently ranked No. 4, which seems to have caught the eye of viewers despite its rather banal synopsis: a fiercely independent pilot trying to keep the family business afloat falls in love. With a man sent to be anchored to the ground forever.

Love is the Air features Australian singer Delta Goodrem, whose face and voice are particularly well-known in Kangaroo Country. She stars with Joshua Sasse, the unforgettable Prince of the musical series Galavant. If both actors know how to voice, don’t expect them to sing in this rom. But they share the same connection with someone who co-wrote the film: Kathryn McPhee.

The American actress and singer collaborated with Kiera Bradshaw on the screenplay for the film Love is in the Air. A first for the former Scorpion and Smash star (who we love!), who is becoming increasingly rare on television. Katharine McPhee isn’t her first collaboration with the streaming platform. In 2021, he starred in the sitcom The Country-Sitter, which lasted only one season.

Apparently, his first attempt at training as a screenwriter failed to convince Netflix subscribers. Despite its good position at the top of the platform, Love is in the Air is only rated 2.4/5 on AlloCiné. Here’s a small roundup of viewer reviews that might convince you (or not) to watch your turn:

“A very nice Australian romantic comedy, full of novelty. The two main actors have incredible charm and good chemistry between them. A film with a classic plot, but one that is enjoyable to follow and especially well shot. The Australian landscapes are beautiful and dreamy. A simple romcom with a taste of vacation that I loved!” (lia)

“Enjoyable comedy like we often see on the M6, it doesn’t break the bank, the cast aren’t bad to watch, there’s nothing to do.” (Crisane Vegeta)

“Has anyone thought of writing a script before filming? No? Too bad, then we’ll have to do without a script. In short, avoid this nonsense. It will save you 1 hour and 28 minutes of waste. 4 viewer reviews .” (lowan)

You really can’t get any more generic than “Love is in the Air” and they better leave it to Hallmark next time because they usually do it better and at least we know what we’re looking at. Maybe I wasn’t in the mood, but it felt bad, boring and painful. (AM11)
