It’s already on track to become the highest-grossing horror film of 2023: The Nun 2 – The Curse of Saint Lucia is a hit at the French box office and has already accumulated more than 726,000 admissions. Up to a million in France, the sequel to The Nonne is also a worldwide success as it has already collected over $231 million.
It’s no surprise, since The Nun 2 is part of the most popular horror franchise of recent years: The Conjuring cinematic universe, produced by New Line Cinema and The Safran Company and distributed by Warner Bros.
The good news is, if you were rocked by The Nun 2 in theaters, you can (re)discover other films in the franchise on Netflix, which has added several films from the franchise to its catalog.
The most popular horror franchise of the moment
With more than $2.1 billion worldwide, The Conjuring cinematic universe – spanning 8 films (and soon to be 9 with Conjuring 4) – is Hollywood’s largest and most popular horror franchise.
It also boasts one of the scariest, with two installments in the franchise making it into the top ten scariest movies of 2020 according to audience heart rates. And that’s a good thing, because both feature films are out now. Available on Netflix.
These are the first two Conjuring films, namely Conjuring: The Warren Files and Conjuring: The Enfield Case, all directed by James Wan (Saw, Insidious, Aquaman). The two feature films follow the paranormal investigations of ghost-hunting couple Ed and Lorraine Warren, played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga.
Another film from the franchise to join the Netflix catalog: Annabelle 2: The Creation of Evil, the fourth feature film in the cinematic universe, directed by David F. Sandberg (Into the Dark, Shazam!), reminiscing about Origins. A mortal doll.
Since Halloween is fast approaching, we recommend you to keep an eye on these three horror movies if you want to organize a spooky evening with guaranteed thrills!
