Very good news only for murders in the building. Hulu recently renewed the series for a fourth season of 10 episodes, and the last one just finished.
The investigation continues for Oliver (Martin Short), Charles (Steve Martin) and Mabel (Selena Gomez), crime podcast fans. The announcement is not surprising when we saw the end of the third season.
Spoiler alert
In the last episode, after discovering the identity of Ben (Paul Rudd), the three friends and the rest of the Death Razzles meet at Oliver’s house to celebrate the premiere of the play.
Sazi (Jane Lynch) aka Charles’ official voice actor on Brazzo, comes to see them. He wants to discuss a small topic with a friend. The latter first asks him to go and collect a bottle of wine from his apartment.
He goes there, almost in total darkness, and then gets shot in the chest. The trio of budding investigators are still unaware of the drama that has just unfolded.
This season finale raises many questions: Is Sazz still alive (we think so)? Did he leave a trail of his blood on the killer’s identity? Is Charles logically (but you never know just murders in the building) a targeted person who might want to kill him?
And most importantly, why are there always dead people in this building? So many answers that will have to be given to us in Season 4, which shouldn’t come until 2024 or even 2025.
End of spoilers
Why season 3 is one of the series’ best
Only Murders in a Building this season 4 will have a hard time doing better than season 3, which clearly outperformed the first two. For this, the producers invited the big names of cinema to join the cast: Meryl Streep, etc. The World’s Best Actress and Paul “Ant Man” Rudy. A strange mix on paper, but one that works wonders on screen.
The series also took a more successful step into the world of musicals, surrounding itself with some of Broadway’s best songwriters to write the songs for this Season 3 (those behind The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen). This in particular leads to this little wonder:
In this season 3, the investigation sometimes took a backseat to telling us about people and what we can protect about our loved ones. More organic and more disturbing than the last, this new round of episodes only raised the level of murder.
If you stopped along the way, now is the time to resume watching Disney+.
