The Walking Dead at OCS: Why did Negan change so much in Season 11?

How do we explain that Negan, the former big villain of the series, has become one of the most popular and challenging characters in the final season of “The Walking Dead”?

The Walking Dead’s most difficult character in recent seasons, Negan started a cross road with the show’s characters a few years ago to make up for his past flaws. And what a fault! These include the killings of Glenn and Abraham with baseball bats, as well as the bloody war between Alexandria and his gang of self-proclaimed “saviors.”

His reunion with Maggie at the beginning of the 11th season was thus a new turning point in the series’s story. If it is inconceivable that these two characters would one day reconcile, Negan did not hesitate to play a provocative card, pushing the young woman into revenge rather than into a form of hesitation that qualifies the latter as “unsustainable.” . A few months away from Alexandria, Negan again appeared at the head of a new group of survivors in the 13th episode.

Described as a “Social animal” By the show’s showmaker, Angela Kang, Negan apparently decided to start a band again with no knowledge of his past crimes. But will not joining this community awaken the old demons? In any case, this is the main question that the screenwriter asks himself, as he explained in the briefing program Talking Dead:

If he joins a new group of survivors who have no knowledge of his past, his mental state will be completely different: “If I clean the slate, will I make different decisions this time? Have I changed? Do I really have the ability to do that? ‘

We bet that this change of personality will also make it possible to prepare a spin-off Isle of the Dead story, which will follow the new adventures of an incredible duo formed by Maggie and Negan. Will these characters be able to find any kind of common language in future episodes if they are doomed to hate each other for the rest of their lives?

Episodes of The Walking Dead Final Season (Part 2) will be broadcast every Monday with US + 24 exclusivity on OCS Choc and repeated on-demand on the OCS platform.
