The model who accused CR7 of rape tries to reopen the case

American model Kathryn Mayorga, who accused Cristiano Ronaldo of rape, wants to reopen the case, which was closed last year. Her lawyers appealed to an appeals court in the United States.

According to American news agencies, Kathryn’s lawyers want millionaire compensation from Cristiano Ronaldo. In a deal that closed the case, in 2010, the Al-Nassr striker paid $375,000 (R$1.92 million) to Mayorga. In fact, the agreement included a confidentiality agreement between them.

Kathryn Mayorga accuses Cristiano Ronaldo of rape in 2009 in Las Vegas. The action brought, however, was only opened in 2018, in the Federal Court of Nevada. During the trial, the model tried to include the confidentiality agreement as evidence of the rape. However, the Court rejected the request.

Kathryn Mayorga’s lawyers, however, consider this an error of justice and use it as an argument to cancel the filing and reopen the proceedings. The request for reopening will be discussed by magistrates in the court of appeal, with the participation of Cristiano Ronaldo’s defense. The decision on the next steps, however, is not expected to arrive in the next few days.

Mayorga was 25 years old when she met Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009 in a nightclub. The couple ended the evening in a hotel suite. In the lawsuit filed in 2018, the model claims that the player raped her in the hotel. Cristiano Ronaldo, however, claimed that the sex occurred with the consent of both.
