Metropolitan FilmExport has just revealed the official release times for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of the Serpent and Songbird.
The Francis Lawrence feature film, already working on 3 of the 4 films in the saga, directed by Jennifer Lawrence, runs 2 hrs 37 including credits. Which makes this prequel the longest film in the franchise since the previous installments did not exceed 2h26 (Catch Fire), including the credits.
Adapted from Susan Collins’ novel, published in 2020, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of the Serpent and the Songbird takes place 64 years before the adventures of Katniss, Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and Gale (Liam Hemsworth). In this film, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow is the last hope of his lineage, a once-proud family that has fallen from grace in the post-war Capitol. With the tenth edition of The Hunger Games approaching, he is given the role of mentor to District 12 tribute Lucy Gray Baird.
After Lucy captures the attention of all of Panem by singing during a harvest ceremony, Coriolanus thinks he can get into the small papers of the Capitol and tip the scales in their favor…
Starring Tom Blyth, Rachel Zegler, Hunter Schafer, Viola Davis, Peter Dinklage and Jason Schwartzman, the feature film opens in theaters on November 15.
