Sony already has a director for the US adaptation of the “One Punch Man” manga. Director Justin Lin, who is responsible for five films in the “Fast and Furious” series, has signed a contract to direct the production, just weeks after he quit filming “Fast and Furious 10”.
He will shoot a screenplay by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner, the duo responsible for the “Jumanji” and “Venom” franchises, two of the studio’s biggest commercial hits.
“One Punch Man” was released in 2009 as a web comic by Japanese artist ONE and focuses on a superhero named Saitama, who can defeat any enemy with a single punch. He soon gets bored and looks for a bigger challenge.
In 2012, ONE signed with publisher Jump Next and partnered with artist Yusuke Murata to release “One Punch Man” in the traditional manga format. The release hit the international market in 2015 and was also adapted as an anime and produced several games in Japan.
The anime version of “One Punch Man” is available in streaming in Brazil, on the Netflix and Crunchyroll platforms. Watch the trailer below.
