Especially during and after the coronavirus pandemic, Pixar released several films that did not attract public or critical attention and collected some box office failures (if compared to other productions). Although, Elements (2023) was somewhat successful and will be responsible for changing the way the studio works, according to Pete Doctercreation director.
During an interview with The New York Times, Doctor commented on how Pixar’s next projects will change after the release of the film directed by Peter Sohn. Released on June 15, 2023 in Brazilian cinemas, Elements featured names like Leah Lewis (Ember Lumen), Mamoudou Athie (Wade), Catherine O’Hara (Brook Ripple) It is Wendi McLendon-Covey (Gale Cumulus) in the cast.
According to the creative director of Pixarclassic animations like Toy Story they are based on ideas that we all carried as children. “I always felt like Elements I would talk to a lot of people and I’m very happy about that. But we also took a fresh look at the projects we’re working on now,” she stated.
What types of films do we want to make? I really think I want to reinforce what allowed us to speak to the public to begin with.
