There is no shortage of delicious and memorable lines in French comedy cinema, some of which have crossed the decades and are forever enshrined in the pantheon of French cinema.

One of the first famous duos of French comedy cinema, Louis de Funes and Bourville, for example, provided some delicious lines. Of course, there’s the legendary bicycle and shoe scene from La Grande Vadrouille, but also that car crash at the beginning of Gérard Uris’ Cornia.

While Bourville is quietly driving his 2CV through the Place Sainte-Genevieve in Paris, his co-worker crashes into it, causing it to be completely destroyed. It was then that the unfortunate driver, with only the steering wheel left in his hands, uttered this famous reply: “Well, it will obviously work much less!“.

Another dialogue that has become familiar to a large number of comedy lovers comes from the 2006 Olivier van Hofstadt Belgian-French film Diekneck. In this famous scene, Francois Damien (Claude Faucan) waits to call his mother until Jeremy Rainier (Greg) ends the call in his phone booth. He then begins to lose his temper and threatens her with his famous “Either get out or I’ll get you out, but you have to make the decision!“.
