What are you doing?
I had the opportunity to capture an epic tale of women’s bodies in the hospital, in their diversity, in their singularity, in their beauty throughout the stages of life. A journey of desires, fears, struggles and unique stories that each person experiences alone. One day I had to go in front of the camera.
What does the press think?
According to Télérama:
“Neither a documentary about a hospital institution nor an activist film – even if the line goes back to the scandal related to obstetric and gynecological violence directed at the head of the relevant department, Professor Emil Darai – our body restores the patient-doctor relationship and arouses. A form of admiration for the medical profession.” (Emmanuel Scavington) 5/5
According to Critikat.com:
“A sprawling hospital mural, at the same time as an intimate reflection on the filmmaker’s relationship with the medical establishment.” (Corentin Le) 4/5
According to the latest news from Alsace:
“The word is not overused: Our Body is a film that turns everything upside down. It shows the fate of women, how they treat their bodies, how they live with them. Not from a social, moral or philosophical point of view, but very precisely organic.” (Natalie Chifflett) 4/5
According to Ouest France:
“Violent and tender, sensitive and devastating, a wonderful documentary.” (Gael Golhen) 4/5
In theaters this week: Claire Simon’s Corpse of the Virgin, a moving film about women’s bodies
According to La Croix:
Filmed in a Paris hospital, this brilliant documentary creates a moving mural of women’s lives through their bodies and stories. (Corinne Renu-Natil) 4/5
According to Les Echos:
“Claire Simon takes the audience in the footsteps of several ordinary women who become her accomplices and on a remarkable human and cinematic adventure. A modest and moving film, shown only through the eyes of the patients.” (Olivier de Bruyne) 4/5
According to Les Inrockuptibles :
“If there was a line of demarcation between the technical crew and the people filmed, it suddenly collapses to give full meaning to the inclusive nature of the title – this ‘our’, which applies to all women and the shared risk that one day, the ‘body’ becomes a machine of suffering.” ( Nicolas Moreno) 4/5
According to the Prime Minister:
“It’s classic and very moving.” (Gael Golhen) 4/5
