Palmeiras lost to Santos 2-1, this Sunday (08), at the Arena Barueri, in the 26th round of the Brazilian championship. It was Verdão’s first match after being eliminated in the Libertadores against Boca Juniors. After the classic, midfielder Raphael Veiga said that the team was not “zero” and that the fall in the continental tournament still hurt the team.
“To say that we enter a match like this with zero points would be a lie. Against Boca it was an extremely intense match, but it brought us a huge emotional issue. From the Bombonera and then at home, it took a lot”, said Veiga, which continued.
“It goes without saying that we arrive at zero and calm because we arrive with physical and emotional tiredness and, like it or not, pressure. We have to win to move forward, there is a lot to do”, added the midfielder.
The number 23, however, still believes in the Brazilian title. Raphael Veiga is aware that Palmeiras must improve if they want to reach Botafogo. He then warns that the year is not over yet.
“We must be aware and know that Botafogo has a great advantage today. Our commitment is to do our best. The year is not over yet, we are very committed to wearing this shirt. It will be 12 games of our lives, we will do our best our best and in the end we will see the ranking”, concluded Raphael Veiga.
