An entire city ends the lives of 5 young people: This is how Mexican cinema portrayed the terrible real-life tragedy

“Canoa: Memory of a Shameful Fact” is one of the many films of Mexican cinema that have depicted real events that we would never want to happen.

Most shockingly, this tragedy took place less than a month before the student massacre at the Plaza de las Tres Culturas in Tlatlolco on September 14, 1968.

“Canoe: Memoir of a shameful event” was based on true events

According to some media, the investigations of the events were not 100% confirmed and Felipe Cazals was not able to film this movie in the actual place where the massacre happened, so he had to do it in the city of Santa Rita Tlahuapan, where he allegedly paid a high amount money to the town priest to be able to do this film work.
