A deleted passage would have made the fantasy film even darker and more tragic.
Book adaptations rarely manage to cover the entire plot of the originals. An example of this is the Harry Potter series, the fifth part of which is based on the longer novel. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix it is one of the shortest films in the series, lasting 138 minutes and excluding many scenes from the book.
But it’s a shame that the fantasy blockbuster was cut. It would have given the fifth Harry Potter film even more tragic depth.

The fifth Harry Potter film dispenses with Neville’s tragic story
In addition to the famous Hogwarts hospital wing, St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Illnesses and Injuries is also introduced for the first time in the fifth volume of Harry Potter. Here the Weasleys and Harry visit the injured Mr. Weasley. In addition to the reunion with Gilderoy Lockhart, there is also a detailed explanation of the history of Neville’s parents.
The book describes the cruel past of Alice and Frank Longbottom. As Aurors during the First Wizarding War, they both knew where Dumbledore was and were tortured into insanity by Bellatrix, Rodolphus, and Rabastan Lestrange.
They were then taken to St Mungo’s Hospital, where they remained for the rest of their lives. The act is considered one of the cruelest of all time in the Harry Potter universe and would have made the fifth film even darker.
