Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge!, Elvis… Baz Luhrmann has had many successes in his career, but his biggest failure remains Australia, the epic film 2h45 directed by Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman, spanning two years.

When it was released, the project failed to convince the public and critics. With a colossal budget of $130 million, Australia grossed just $50 million in the United States.

After fifteen years, the director gives new life to this feature film. Australia is now becoming a six-episode series, completely re-edited with the addition of deleted scenes. The project is also changing its name: Faraway Downs – which is nothing more than the name of the estate that Nicole Kidman takes in the film.

This new version will be presented to the general public during the closing ceremony of the SXSW Sydney Screen Festival in Australia on October 21st.

Recall that the story takes place during the Second World War and follows the romance between the English aristocrat Lady Sarah Ashley (Nicole Kidman) and a somewhat poor cowboy (Hugh Jackman).

The release date has already been set. Faraway Downs will be released on Hulu in the US and Disney+ in the rest of the world on November 26.
