The world of Stephen King has inspired cinema for over 50 years, and it’s not stopping anytime soon. Along with Simetier: Origin of Evil, the author’s novel undergoes a new adaptation, with a few details, since it is a prequel. And to everyone’s surprise, the writer himself praised this new film and praised, in particular, the quality of its story. AlloCiné, on the other hand, has a completely different opinion.
Good news for director and screenwriter Lindsay Berry: receiving a compliment from Stephen King is something many filmmakers would dream of. At the end Simetierre: Origin of EvilThe character Jude Crandall ultimately chooses to stay in the town of Ludlow to observe the cemetery.
After that project, Lindsey Luddy was hired to sign on for a new adaptation of Sleepy Hollow. But his Simetierre can be continued. At least that’s what he suggests, explaining that he created an entire mythology when he wrote the script:
“I feel a big picture in my head of the murders of the whole cityHe specifies For the media, but why?. What are their sins, what they have done and who they have turned to and also everything that everyone knows about others and what is hidden.”
In SFX Magazine he continues:You could make some movies with the world of Simetierre to lift the veil on the origin of this evil from where it comes.“
As of now, no sequel projects have been confirmed by Paramount, but if the prequel’s success on the platform is anything to go by, this new film will most likely launch new projects.
Simetierre: Origins of Evil is available on Paramount+.
