The initiative, entitled XEPA: favela, food and sustainability, brings together 12 experts in six meetings on the affective memory of gastronomy, the ancestral knowledge of the land, vegetarianism and the true cuisine of those who fight against hunger. The opening hours, completely free, run from 10/1 to 11/5, always on Sundays, from 11am to 1pm.
The Favela Museum, an institution of the Secretariat of Culture, Economy and Creative Industry of the State of São Paulo, launches, with the patronage of the Extra network, through the GPA Institute, the Xepa project: Favela, Food and Sustainability.
With the aim of encouraging the conscious consumption of healthy foods and the preparation of sustainable meals in the peripheral areas of Brazil, the initiative, completely free, will last until November 5th, always on Sundays, at 11am, at the Issoro Auditorium. To participate, interested parties must register in advance on the Museu das Favelas website.
In total there will be six meetings with guest specialists on the topics who will lead conversations and demonstration culinary lessons designed to teach, above all, how to fully use all foods.
During these conferences, which will have a capacity of 50 participants, themes such as the affective memory of cooking, ancestral knowledge of the land, children’s nutrition, Afro-Brazilian gastronomy and the sacred will also be addressed, as well as indicating other possible paths through the vegetarianism and the traditional cuisine of those who fight against hunger.
