Get your money back from the streamer
According to Panda, the company seeks to demonstrate to content creators that this is their right. And the trial is being conducted not with Twitch, but with American revenue, to prove that undue taxes were charged.
“This money is yours. Twitch has a tax obligation in the US to notify revenue. We work directly with US revenue. We go to revenue and say ‘this guy paid so much tax, but this is overdue, he should have paid so much’ . There are cases in which we recover 20%, 22% of that 30% paid in the last three years”comments Panda.
Murilo, who works directly on the tax calculations that the company carries out, comments that the aim is, in addition to keeping the company alive, to democratize information. He points out that, depending on the case, streamers pay double the tax, since they also declare Brazilian income.
“If you stop to think about it, because there really isn’t a tax agreement, it’s automatically taxed at 30% and if you declare it as an individual here in Brazil it goes back to 27.5%. If you stop to think about it, that’s two-thirds of his income that he pays in taxes”underlines Murilo.
Promote the scenario
As previously highlighted, the reality for Twitch streamers has been increasingly harsh in terms of profitability. In this sense, Murilo believes that WeAccount’s work is positive for the scenario, as it can motivate creators to invest in their careers.
“It has the effect of really promoting the scenario. Because since we’ve made it possible in the last three years, we do it retroactively, it’s money that comes in unexpectedly, that he didn’t know was possible and he manages to re-inject, invest in the setup, for example “analyzes and reiterates that creators’ refunds can recover taxes paid up to 2019.
Panda now takes this opportunity to inform that the company is expanding this accounting service to other digital media. According to him, WeAccount has identified refund opportunities for smaller developers on Steam, both from games and skin designers. Another medium that the company looks at are rewards in Fortnite.
Finally, Panda says the company only charges its customers if the refund is successful and the initial consultation is free: “We work not only for those who make a lot of money, but also for smaller farmers.”
