The storm hits the capital and metropolitan region and is expected to remain strong overnight. Temperatures are expected to drop in the coming days

One Heavy rain reaches the City of Sao Paulo and the metropolitan region on the night of this Thursday the 12th. The storm put all the regions of the capital on flood alert at 7pm, according to what Emergency Management Center (CGE), from the Town Hall. Monitoring agencies are predicting further rain throughout the night.

“The extension of the instability zones coming from the Sorocaba region causes rain in the form of showers in Greater São Paulo. According to data from the meteorological radar of the Municipality of São Paulo, the most intense points are concentrated in the municipalities of Cotia, Itapevi, Santana de Parnaíba and Barueri“, informed the CGE at 19:00.



This rainfall, according to the agency, should move to the capital Sao Paulo and “spread to all regions of the city in the next few hours”. The Municipality recommends the following measures in case of storms:

  • Avoid driving on flooded roads;
  • If the rain causes flooding, do not venture into the rapids;
  • Stay away from the electricity grid and do not park under trees. Take shelter in homes and buildings;
  • Plan your trips so that there is less chance of encountering traffic jams caused by blocked roads;

The capital is expected to have cold weather in the coming days
