Hundreds of artists sign a letter in support of Israel

More than 700 people from the entertainment industry, including actress Gal Gadot and actors Michael Douglas and Jerry Seinfeld, have signed an open letter in support of Israel in its conflict with Hamas, the Creative Community for Peace.

The non-profit entertainment industry organization CCFP said the letter was unprecedented and represented a “call from the entertainment industry expressing unequivocal support for Israel and condemning Hamas terrorism.”

“This is terrorism. This is evil. There is no justification or rationalization for the actions of Hamas. These are barbaric acts of terrorism that must be denounced by all,” the letter reads.

Hamas began its attack on Israeli cities on Saturday and Israeli public broadcaster Kan said the Israeli death toll had risen to more than 1,300. Most were civilians killed in their homes, on the street or during a party. Many other people are held hostage in the Gaza Strip.

An Israeli bombing campaign in Gaza has killed more than 1,400 Palestinians, Gaza officials said.

Other famous names who signed the letter include celebrities Liev Schreiber, Chris Pine, Amy Schumer, Jamie Lee Curtis, writer and producer Ryan Murphy and director Antoine Fuqua.
