A man broke into a school in northern France this Friday morning (13th) and stabbed students and teachers, causing at least one death and several injuries.

According to local authorities, quoted by Bfm-TV, a literature teacher was killed and two others were stabbed and seriously injured. French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin confirmed the arrest of the criminal.

The attacker, who was a twenty-year-old Chechen and former student of the school, entered the classrooms shouting “Allah Akbar” (“Allah is great”), as did the terrorists responsible for the series of attacks. claimed by the jihadist group Islamic State between 2015 and 2017 in the country.

According to Bfm-TV, citing police sources, the brother of the perpetrator was also arrested. So far it is not known what the motivations for the crime were and, therefore, the investigations have not yet been entrusted to the anti-terrorism department. No terrorist group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

“We were leaving the classroom to go to the canteen, we saw a boy attacking us with two knives. A bloody teacher tried to calm him down to protect us. He told us to leave, we didn’t understand well, we started running and others returned to the upper floors”, one of the students told the newspaper “La Voix Du Nord”.

The attack took place at the Gambetta-Carnot high school in Arras, a city of 40 thousand inhabitants, capital of the Pas-de-Calais region, near the border with Belgium.

This new episode of violence in France comes three days after the third anniversary of the beheading of Samuel Paty, 47, a teacher killed on October 16, 2020 in the suburbs of Paris after holding a lesson on freedom of expression, showing children, among other things things, caricatures of Muhammad. .
