Although the new Halloween trilogy, signed by David Gordon Green, is still remembered – the last part, Halloween Ends, was released in October 2022 – the franchise can already return.
After a battle between several studios for the rights, Miramax finally won the bidding. On social networks, rumors talked about the fashionable studio A24 – behind many horror films such as The Witch, Hereditary or Midsommar – but the information was denied.
First of all, it’s a homecoming for Halloween, as the saga was already owned by Miramax before Halloween Resurrection, which came out in 2002. This new contract covers the development of the series. The killer in the white mask could make his first appearance on the small screen.
This series project could also start a whole universe centered around Halloween between the movies and the series. In a press release, the president of Miramax’s television branch said:
“We can’t wait to bring Halloween to television. We are excited to expand our collaboration with Trancas and the brilliant Malek Akkad in the form of a new story of this iconic franchise and for a new generation of fans..”
David Gordon Green’s Halloween (2018) is available on Netflix.
