Since last December, Jason Momoa has been rumored to be in the running for the role of Lobo, the villain in DC’s wild interstellar bounty hunter.
When the DC Universe rebooted after The Flash movie this year, it was speculated that the actor would no longer be playing Arthur Curry/Aquaman and would now move on to the role of Lobo, a character that would play well in David Korenswet’s new Superman James. Gunn’s upcoming Man of Steel film, Superman Legacy.
On the Oct. 12 episode of “The Hot Mic” podcast (via ComingSoon ), industry insider Jeff Snyder revealed that Jason Momoa Lobo has indeed been cast, and that an official casting announcement will be made around early 2024.
That’s right, Jason Momoa is Lobo. It is done. Jason Momoa has been cast as Lobo and is expected to be officially announced…around February I’d say. This has nothing to do with the strike, it’s about Aquaman.
He clarifies that the new Aquaman, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom installment, which would have been a chaotic shoot, is slated to hit theaters in December before launching on HBO Max. According to him, an announcement will be made on the platform after a week or two:I think in February – maybe March at the latest – you’re going to make an announcement about Momoa as Lobo – especially if he’s in the Superman cast.“
Looking forward to learning more, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be available in theaters on December 20, 2023.
