Consent: Who plays young Vanessa Springora in this shocking movie about the whistleblower case?

This week, Kim Higuelin, with Jean-Paul Ruves, headlines Consent. Adapted from Vanessa Springora’s autobiographical book, the film focuses on the control and sexual abuse that novelist Gabrielle Matznefi suffered after they met in 1986 when she was 13 years old.

The granddaughter of the late singer Jacques Higuelin, Kim grew up in a family of artists, with her father, Kenny, working in the industry. Very early on, his taste for the stage led him to improvise shows for those around him. As an undergraduate, a small job as a waitress allows her to pay for her drama lessons.

In 2019, Kim Higgelin completed her acting in the short films Snow White, The Loneliness(s), and Scarlett. After several appearances at SKAM France and Alexandra Ehle, Rodolphe Tissot directs her in the feature film Clèves (2020), about the awakening of a teenager’s sexuality. The public discovered him the following year in the TF1 series Plan B.

Her character, Lou, Julie de Bona’s troubled daughter, ends her life, prompting her mother to call a mysterious agency to go back in time to find out what she missed. He is next seen in the detective TV movie Honey and Blood (2022), directed by Nicolas Gobb, Léa François and Eva Darlan.

In 2023, Kim will appear in an episode of the spin-off series The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (in France) as the surviving leader of the Children’s Society. In the same year, he found his most important and most challenging role in the drama Le Consentement, directed by Vanessa Filiot.

Written in this adaptation of the shocking book of the same name Vanessa SpringoraKim Higuelin plays the latter when she meets Gabriel Matznef, a famous fifty-year-old writer, at the age of 13. She becomes his lover, who becomes more and more violently affected by the destructive influence that this sexual predator exerts on her.

“With consent, I found myself facing something that was much stronger than me. I let go of my feelings for the role of Vanessa. I also felt the need to put my head in a bubble and concentrate only on the script for months before shooting.”Kim explains and continues:

“During this preparation, I was surrounded only by my partner, my best friend and Vanessa Filio, during which I worked on the script and text of Vanessa Springora. I found the answers to the questions I asked myself in these writings. I was fed. Everything from childhood to adulthood.”
