Almost two weeks ago, last Thursday, October 5th to be exact, Netflix put the 3rd episode of Lupine online, still hosted by Omar Sy of the Sun. Very quickly, these new episodes, which arrived on the American platform after a wait of more than two years, broke all records and in less than a week became the most watched non-English fiction on Netflix between October 2nd and 8th. At that time, the third part was viewed more than 11.6 million times worldwide.
And we have to believe that the series created by George Kay is not ready to stop here. With 14.1 million total views worldwide, Lupine Part 3 is the most-watched program between October 9 and 15 on Netflix.
Cumulatively, this new stream of episodes now accounts for the equivalent of 25.7 million views since its October 5 launch. A success that also boosts the first two seasons of Lupine, released in 2021, among the top five most-watched non-English language series. The first part is in second place with 4.7 million views, and the second part is in fourth place with 4.3 million views.
As of now, Netflix has yet to order a season 4 for Lupine, even if it’s a safe bet that these record numbers will be able to convince the platform to continue the adventures of the gentleman thief played by Omar Sy. Especially since the finale of the 3rd season raised many questions among subscribers. Answer in a few weeks…
Lupine Season 3 picks up a few months after the events of the Season 2 finale. Assane Diop is now a fugitive, but he had a hard time getting away from his family. He then decides to return to Paris to pull off one last heist that will allow him to start a new life outside of France. Unfortunately, nothing goes as planned and a ghost from his past comes to ruin his well laid plan.
