For a period, a biopic of Madonna starring Julia Garner was in development, but the project was shelved. For paper Debi Mazarbest friend of Queen of Pop, Julia Fox did a “surreal” test with the singer – and recalled the period in which he interacted with her.
During participation in the Watch What Happens Live with Andy CohenFox, who acted in productions such as Puppet (2022), Not a False Step (2021) and Uncut Gems (2019), revealed how he first met Madonna at a New York restaurant “many years ago,” where he had dinner “with some really fabulous gay men.”
“There’s a lot of strength in her vulnerability. When you meet her, she just has that ‘It’ factor. It totally makes sense because she’s Madonna,” he stated. “So we kind of kept in touch and she was doing the biopic and I really wanted to play Debi.”
I went to her house and read to her, and it was all very surreal.
