Santos has decided not to appeal against the punishment that striker Soteldo received from STJD for the match against Internacional, this Sunday at 4pm (Brasilia time), in Beira-Rio. The Venezuelan was suspended for two matches, one already served automatically, after being sent off for swearing at referee Leandro Pedro Vuaden in the 2-0 defeat against América-MG.
The Santos team would have had the possibility to appeal against the STJD’s decision to make the player available for the match against Inter, but they preferred to spare him. The medical office, together with the technical committee, decided that it was best to preserve Soteldo after the attacker showed signs of physical wear after the two matches with Venezuela on FIFA.
Although far from ideal conditions, the athlete was used in the second half of the 3-1 match against Bragantino on Thursday. As a result, Soteldo will remain at Santos to recover while he serves the punishment handed out by STJD.

On the occasion of his sending off against América-MG on 3 September, Leandro Pedro Vuaden detailed what the Venezuelan player said in his summary.
“I sent off (Soteldo) with a direct red card because, after receiving a yellow card, he uttered the following words: ‘It’s been a while since you whistled only against us, f…, fuck you…’ ” , he described.
The first match of the ban was automatically fulfilled in the following match, against Cruzeiro on 14 September. In that match, Santos was defeated 3-0 in Vila Belmiro.
