Midfielder James Rodríguez led São Paulo’s victory over Grêmio this Saturday, 3-0, in Morumbi, in the Brazilian championship. With two assists the Colombian was fundamental to the result, which moved the team away from the relegation zone of the competition.
At the end of the match, the player spoke about his performance and said that he was welcomed positively by the Italian team. He needed a long period to adapt to the new country and was on the bench for a long time, but he doesn’t mind the few minutes available at the start of his stay.
“I think it was a good match, not only for me, but for the whole team. This gives a lot of confidence for the matches to come. I want to help out, it’s normal that you have to adapt when you arrive in a new country team, It’s been almost two and a half months. I’m trying to help the team do good things, like I did today,” James said.
“I’m happy here, I felt welcomed from day one. The guys here are really good people, so I’m happy with that. The environment is very good on and off the pitch. I arrived in a team that was already made, it’s normal, I’m a guy who really likes to work,” he added.
Still without scoring goals, James has already provided six assists for San Paolo. In this way he helped the team climb to tenth place in the Brazilian championship, with 38 points earned, eight points from defeat.
Further away from Z4, San Paolo will face none other than Palmeiras in their next match. Choque-Rei will take place on Wednesday, starting at 8pm (Brasilia time), at Allianz Parque, for the 29th round of the Brasileirão.
