The match between Glorioso and Fortaleza will be rescheduled

The competitions director of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), Julio Avellar, confirmed that the match between Botafogo and Atletico-PR will be rescheduled on Sunday, at 3pm (Brasilia time). The match will resume after six minutes of the second half and behind closed doors.
– The match is suspended and pursuant to Article 21 of the General Competition Regulations (RGC), the match is rescheduled for Sunday, at 3pm, behind closed doors. This is the procedure – said Avellar, in an interview with SporTV.
Furthermore, the match between Fortaleza and Botafogo, which would have been played on Tuesday (24), will have to be rescheduled to a later date. According to Article 26 of the RGC, clubs and athletes cannot play matches coordinated by the CBF without a minimum interval of 66 hours between matches.
Avellar also explained the reason for resuming the match behind closed doors, as the third paragraph of Article 21 of the RGC provides that “the fan will have access to the stadium provided he presents proof of the original ticket” if a match is postponed or suspended.
– It’s a decision we have to make because we have another match between Flamengo and Vasco. There is an obstacle from public security in Rio de Janeiro. So the best decision to make is to continue the match on Sunday so that we can play the remaining 39 minutes without the presence of the public.
Finally, Avellar did not reveal whether Botafogo could be punished due to the suspension of the match against Atletico-PR. The CBF race director stated that the legal issues will be addressed more calmly in the coming days.
