TF1 broadcasts Ghostbusters: The Legacy tonight, the third opus in the saga of hunters of monsters and ghosts of all kinds. A film that respects its predecessors, with lots of visible motion and more… you need a remote for it!
If you pause at exactly 43 minutes and 15 seconds, the tracking shot will show part of the lab of the late Dr. Egon Spengler, a member of the original Ghostbusters team played by the late Harold Ramis, who also co-wrote the film. The first two films in the saga.
Then we can see a strange and bulky rusty orange car hidden in the shadows.
This device is a direct reference to the first Ghostbusters. We saw this in detail when the dean of Venkmann University, Stanz and Spengler, came to say that their studies and experiments on the supernatural had ended because they were running out of funds.
An employee then crosses the stage with a Walkman on his ears, pushing then pulling wheels, the purpose of which is not explained to us. Spengler is obviously sentimental because he kept this archive!

Another saga within a feature film filled with references to Ghostbusters 1 and 2. It should be said that the director of “Legacy” Jason Reitman is the son of Ivan Reitman, who signed the first two films. According to him, he grew up with this franchise and wanted to sign the last episode. Ivan Reitman died in 2022, prompting a huge tribute from, among others, his Ghostbusters co-stars.
It should be noted that the 2016 reboot titled Ghostbusters starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and Chris Hemsworth has been largely overshadowed by The Legacy. It must be said that the actors suffered a wave of violent harassment during the release and that the film was a failure at the box office, collecting $128 million in the United States against an estimated budget of $144 million.
