Un Si Grand Soleil: “Enrique fights to win Leonore’s heart”, explains Julien Masdua

Enrique’s (Julien Masdua) life turns into a nightmare in Un si grand soleil.

Recently in a relationship with Leonor (Maeva Pascual), the L. Cosmétiques employee is literally on cloud nine. If she was hoping for a relaxing holiday in the countryside with her loved one, unfortunately, fate will decide otherwise in the next episodes of France 2’s daily soap opera.

It must be said that Leonore does not really appreciate nature, and even less appreciates being cut off from the world. To relieve her boredom, Louis’ mother decides to host a barbecue at the villa of Mr. Lecointry, an art collector who has asked her to look after his house while he is in the hospital.

But as always in Un si grand soleil, things don’t go as planned. And for good reason, Leonore was shot during the robbery. This is not good for the future…

Met last July during a visit to the studios of Un si grand soleil in Vendarg, Enrique’s interpreter Julien Masdua spoke to the Alocine microphone about what awaits his character during the next episodes of the daily soap opera France 2.

Alocine: Leonor and Enrique recently became a couple. What can you tell us about this new love story?

Julien Masdoua : This is the second time that Enrique has fallen in love with a woman at his workplace. There will be many parallels with the story of Miriam (Pauline Paolini).

Is this serious news between Leonor and Enrique?

Yes. Now these are two characters who don’t really know each other. They will learn to discover each other and there will be many surprises.

Leonor was soon shot during a robbery. How will Enrique react?

He is injured. Enrique is not at all the kind of person you usually see in detective stories. He is not the one in action. Let’s say he is a normal boy. So, obviously, seeing her lover bathed in blood is not easy for her. He is shocked.

It’s a bit behind the whole story. He wanted to do more, but he couldn’t. So it’s a big disappointment. I have really incredible luck with my playing partners: Frédéric Camatari, Pauline Paolini and Maeva Pascual, they are all extraordinary.

mark (Cesar Merrick) eventually realizes that he still has romantic feelings for Leonore. What will Enrique do to win Leonore’s heart?

He fights to win Leonore’s heart. Then Enrique is a character who puts others before himself (laughs). If Enrique feels that Marc has a legitimate reason to be in Leonore’s life, he won’t necessarily be in fierce competition. Instead, he will try to evaluate himself and analyze the situation to see what is best for Leonor. He is her favorite most of all. From there he will make a decision.

What awaits Enrique professionally?

We have two new characters joining L. Cosmétiques. There are more and more of us. I really like The Office and Un si grand soleil is starting to make me think of that show, minus the crazy side. With numbers, we start to have a really interesting interaction.

Enrique will be moving soon. A few words about it?

Enrique moves and found a new apartment. I think that from a purely narrative point of view, Enrique had an easier love story with Leonor than at camp. So we have a slight change of environment. However, Enrique and Gary (Alban Omardi) continue their friendship and relationship more than ever. And then Gary obviously can’t help but get involved in the love story of Leonor and Enrique. A lot of comedy scenes come out and we love playing them.

Aside from Gary, could Enrique make any other friendships in the series?

There is a connection in the image with the character of Berthier (Khalid Maadour). This is something we will see more and more on screen. I imagine there will be some things with Kareena’s character as well. We really have a family feeling at L. Cosmétiques. Even with the character of Elisabeth (Christel Labaud), who is a bit like the superior of this convent. We have in-depth development of the relationships between the characters. I think I realized during the discussion with Olivier Sulzinger that the desire of the production was to make L. Cosmétiques a kind of family business. Not necessarily in the size of the company, but more in the relationships between the characters. This aspect will evolve and L. Cosmétiques will no longer be just a workplace for heroes.

Despite their separation, Mo and Enrique remained friends. Will we see them interact together again?

quite. I can’t talk too much about it, but we have a little arc around Gary. It’s really pure comedy and very funny. It’s funny because in the Un si grand soleil scripts the surprises come more from the detective stories, but here the real surprise comes from the comedic arc.

This year was marked by the departure of the character of Ines. How did you experience leaving? Maeva El Arus ?

We have been together since the beginning of the series. We built a little family with the characters of Mo, Gary, Ines and Enrique. We are very close to each other in real life. It really is a second family. When Maeva left, it hurt all three of us. We are still in touch, but yes, it has not been easy. The bus scene where Enrique, Mo and Gary say goodbye to Inez was not so easy to film.

Frederic also brought back a bottle of champagne that day and we toasted between the two scenes (laughs). After that, in this type of long-term program, you have to get used to traveling, especially among young people. We always wish them to achieve what they set their mind to. But yes, there is definitely something very strong between us. How nice that the character of Ines is regularly mentioned in the texts.

Do you have any wishes for your character?

I want Enrique to be a part of this life that is being built at L. Cosmétiques. I would also like Enrique’s unionist side to come forward, which I like a lot. I have a feeling it’s something special on late night television. You don’t see that often. I like that he stands up for our rights. The protection of social achievements is something that we unfortunately have to remember. The idea of having a character who doesn’t hesitate to put himself in danger for other people, without necessarily having to have a gun or risking his life, is something I really like. And then I guess it’s not a bad idea to send a few reminder shots to people.

Do you have any other projects besides Un si grand soleil that you can talk about?

I shot a series for Canal+ in 66-5. I play a lawyer. It was really great! Alyssa Isaaz, my playing partner, is amazing. We laughed a lot. It was really cool. I hope for season 2.
