And in the last few hours CONMEBOL has defined the refereeing calendar for the grand final of the South American CONMEBOL between Fortaleza and LDU, which will take place this Saturday (28th), at 5pm at the Domingo Burgueño Miguel Stadium, in Punta del Este, Uruguay.

The arbiter of the decision will be the Venezuelan Jesús Valenzuela, 39 years old. Born in Portugal, he is preparing for his second final in the history of the South American Championship. Valenzuela refereed the Sula final in 2020, involving Defensa y Justicia x Lanús, with Defensa winning 3-0.

This will be the third Tricolore match refereed by the Venezuelan this season. The other two were Fortaleza 4×0 Deportivo Maldonado/URU on March 2 and Cerro Porteño/PAR 2×1 Fortaleza on March 16. In this year’s edition of the CONMEBOL event, Jesús will play his fifth refereed match. The last one was in the knockout stage of the tournament, on August 22, Corinthians 1×0 Estudiantes at the Neo Química Arena.

His assistants are also from Venezuela. They are Jorge Urrego and Túlio Moreno. The video referee’s booth is entrusted to the Argentine Jorge Baliño. Alongside him there will also be Hector Palletta, Ezequiel Brailovsky and Silvio Trucco.
