Bodies is a new event series from Netflix. Four detectives from four different eras of London investigate the same murder. Travel through time in 4 stages for a thriller that prides itself as unique in its kind.
Warning, the rest of this article contains spoilers for the series and especially the ending.
After 8 episodes, which sometimes drag on, the audience finally discovers the end of the story and the reason why the same body was found four different times in the same place. It’s about a scientist from the future (2053) trying to stop a man from the past creating a cult of his personality in order to become immortal (in short).
We discover that the story’s big bad, Julian Harker (Stephen Graham) and Elias Mannix are the same person. When Shahara (Amaka Okafor) prevents the latter (with Harker’s precious help) from detonating a bomb in London, things finally return to normal for our four investigators. They can live their lives and forget about this incredible adventure.
But the last minutes turn everything upside down. As she gets into a taxi to join her father, Shahara says bluntly: “Sometimes I feel like the whole city is going to explode. Erupt. And I worry about the future.” It is then that we discover that the driver of the car is none other than Iris Maplewood (Shira Haas).
As the camera pans away from the taxi, we see a building in the distance with the words KYAL (Know Your Love), an acronym for the Harker sect.
What does the end of Bodies mean?
Although he managed to stop Manix, it seems that this did not stop the cult from existing. If we don’t know who the creator is, we understand that Iris is on the other side and part of it (if not the leader). Shahara’s comments suggest that London will indeed be attacked. So he just postponed the deadline…
If Bodies was created as a mini-series, there’s nothing to say that Netflix won’t make a second season if it’s successful. Especially since the subscribers will definitely be left wanting more…
