Mission: Impossible 8 – Second part is officially postponed to 2025, as reported by Deadline. The sequel, which was previously scheduled for release on June 28, 2024, is now scheduled for May 23 the following year.

The actors’ strike

The Hollywood actors’ strike has been going on since July, after the movement started in May by the Screenwriters’ Union. Despite the end of the writers’ strike, who reached an agreement with the Alliance of Film and Television Producers (AMPTP), the Actors’ Union (SAG) remains in negotiations.

In the latest update, the SAG confirmed the resumption of talks to try to end the strike which has lasted for 100 days, the longest since 1980.

Mission: Impossible 8 – Second part

The postponement of the eighth sequence comes after the previous production, Mission: Impossible 7 – Part Onehaving a disappointing debut in the United States, partly due to competition from other larger groups, such as Relentless Barbie AND Oppenheimer.

The film grossed only $56.2 million at its premiere in July, a very weak start compared to its investment of almost $300 million, another reason for the lower-than-expected box office, as it raised high expectations. On the other hand, global revenues and good reviews boosted the performance, bringing the worldwide total to $235 million, the franchise’s biggest global debut.

Currently, the film has grossed $567.5 million globally, a remarkable performance considering the film is the seventh installment in the 27-year-old action franchise. Check out the details and trailer here Mission: Impossible 7 – Part One.
