After Game of Thrones and House of Dragons, is filming a third series in Westeros inevitable?

While filming of House of the Dragon season 2 has continued despite the Hollywood strike, the second Game of Thrones spin-off is in the headlines, with a filming announcement imminent.

A few months ago it was announced, A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight (Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: Knight of the Hedge in French) is an adaptation of The Adventures of Dunk and Egg.

This trilogy of short stories written by George Martin was published in separate editions (Pygmalion) but also in full format under the title. Chronicles of a Knight’s Sin. These three stories feature a knight named Dank, who is accompanied by his faithful egg (so named because of its bald head).

Casting director Lucy Bevan (most notably on Barbie and The Batman) has released a casting announcement for the HBO series, which is slated for a spring 2024 release. The ad lists two desirable profiles: a tall man and a strong soldier role. A pale child of twenty and about nine.

These descriptions match the appearance of Dunk and the Egg perfectly, so there is no doubt that this casting is indeed about the filming of A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms.

Keep in mind that the series is supposed to span three seasons (one new season) and that it takes place between House of Dragons and Game of Thrones (about a century apart).

We shouldn’t expect this new series to air until the summer of 2025, at best. Until then, the complete Game of Thrones and the first season of House of the Dragon are now available on Prime Video with a Warner Pass subscription.
