Responsible for acclaimed films such as Encounters and Mismatches (2003), Priscilla (2023) and Marie Antoinette (2006), Sofia Coppola received an offer to direct The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2the last feature in the franchise starring Kristen Stewart (Isabella Swan), Taylor Lautner (Jacob Black) It is Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen).
During an interview with Rolling Stone USAthe filmmaker was asked about some problems with major studios that she had throughout her career, such as a meeting about the direction of the last Twilight film – and what would have happened behind the scenes.
“We had a meeting and it never went anywhere. I thought the whole werewolf imprint thing was weird,” he stated. “The baby. Very strange! But part of the [filme de] Twilight previous could be done in an interesting way. I thought it would be fun to do a romance between teenage vampires, but the last one goes too far.”
Right away, Sofia Coppola commented whether the idea of her making a genre film like this, be it horror or anything else, is really interesting. “I think it would be fun to do sci-fi and I think it would be fun to do, not like gory, but I like gothic horror. I have no idea, though,” she replied.
