watchOS 10.1: Update brings ‘Double Tap’ to Apple Watch

The expected the double tap gesture is finally here Apple Watch series 9 it’s at Apple Watch Ultra 2with the launch of watchOS 10.1 this Wednesday (25). The feature was among the improvements revealed by the company during the presentation of the new generation of smart watches in early September.

Also known as double tap, the new feature allows you to control the two most recent models in the line with just one hand and without touching the screen. By making specific movements by touching the fingertips it is possible to activate various wearable functions, such as answering or ending phone calls.




As Apple explains, this can be useful in several everyday situations, when one of your hands is occupied preventing access to the smartwatch display. Walking dogs, preparing meals, carrying bags and holding a cup of coffee are some of them.

It is worth mentioning that there is a similar tool in previous generations, to perform some tasks with gestures. In this regard, Apple stated, in a statement, that “this new feature integrates existing gestures, such as tap, swipe, lift to wake and cover to mute, which make using Apple Watch simple and intuitive” .

What does double tap do?

By default, double-tap Automatically selects the primary action for most apps and notifications, but in some cases it is possible to choose the desired function. Another important detail is that the feature is not compatible with fall detection, emergency SOS, and ECG tools, among others.
