Back four billion years ago. This is where life on our planet begins, an eight-episode documentary series produced by Steven Spielberg and the creators of Our Planet – a series narrated by subject matter expert David Attenborough. This new program looks back at the first signs of life on Earth, the age of the dinosaurs, their extinction and the rise of human civilization.
In just a few minutes, the viewer is immersed in a real spectacle, where each image, especially the water, impresses. Life on Our Planet combines visual effects and live action. The two intersect and the result is stunning. Beyond digital – each episode contains between 30 and 40% – we meet Industrial, Light & Magic, George Lucas’ company founded in 1975.
As for the “real” pictures, they were shot in more than 45 countries around the world, including Ecuador, Ivory Coast, Great Britain and Morocco. Obviously, the history of the world had a different flavor when told by the legendary voice of Morgan Freeman.
This is not the first time that the actor plays the role of narrator in a documentary. He notably starred in Luc Jacquet’s French film The March of the Imperator – in its original version – which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary.
