The associations that bring together the industries responsible for around 90 million vehicles discuss the energy future of the sector in Sao Paulo
Anfavea (National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers) is organizing an unprecedented event in the history of the national automotive industry this week in Sao Paulo.
For the first time, Brazil hosts the meeting of the Oica (Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d’Automobiles), an entity based in Paris, made up of 36 associations that bring together the manufacturers responsible for the global production of approximately 90 million vehicles worldwide. ‘year.
Every year the Oica meets in the country of one of its members. This year’s event, under the responsibility of Anfavea, represents an important milestone for Brazil, which can show the world its leadership position in the transition towards sustainable mobility.
This year the General Assembly received representatives from South Africa, Germany, Australia, Austria, South Korea, the United States, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Japan, Norway, Portugal, the United Kingdom and Sweden, as well as members of the General Assembly European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).

Márcio de Lima Leite, president of Anfavea: “If our sector is part of this problem, it must be an active part of the solution. In this sense, Brazil has a lot to give. Electrification is a process that will last.”
Lima Leite took the opportunity to highlight the diversity of energy solutions in Brazil: “We have long experience with biofuels, especially ethanol and biodiesel, as well as well-developed alternatives such as biogas, HVO and green hydrogen.”
Anfavea highlighted the potential of ethanol, when considering the well-to-wheel cycle, but stated that only 30% of motorists use this fuel; the remaining 70% of flexible car users prefer petrol.
