LaLiga takes a stand after Vini Jr was the target of racist insults in the classic against Barcelona

LaLiga took a stand this Saturday (28) and released a statement after Vini Jr was, once again, the target of racist insults coming from the stands. The case occurred at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, in the classic between Barcelona and Real Madrid, in a match valid for the eleventh round of the Spanish Championship.

“LaLiga is working as a priority to identify the perpetrators of racist insults and, as always, will file a complaint in this regard. We are in direct contact with the Police and FC Barcelona”, reads the statement from the association responsible for the administration of Spanish football. .

According to what was reported by the Spanish newspaper ‘Marca’, the insults occurred when Vini left the pitch during injury time in the second half. So the Brazilian was visibly irritated, talking and gesticulating towards the stands. At the same time, the newspaper reports that a banana-like object was thrown onto the pitch when Vini was replaced by Lucas Vázquez.

This is therefore the second consecutive match in the Spanish championship in which Vini Jr receives racist insults from opposing fans. In the previous round, when Real Madrid had drawn 1-1 against Sevilla away from home, the Brazilian had been the target of racism from Sevilla fans and a rival fan could even be seen making gestures imitating a monkey.

Furthermore, Vini Jr also posted a post on his social networks in which he asked for the intervention of the Spanish authorities, concluding in an ironic tone: “I’m sorry to seem repetitive, but this is isolated episode number 19. And beyond…”.
