He is the French voice of Jim Carrey. He beat out Austin Powers, Gaylord Furnicker and George of the Jungle. His tone was accompanied by Saved by the Bell, Lois and Clark, Melrose Place and Desperate Housewives. He brought Simba and Cronk to life at Disney. Emmanuel Curtil : I woke up very early this morning, at 5 am, and heard the news of his death on social media. I think it was hard for me to realize that. As the morning went on, I felt a special touch.

Admittedly, I got that impression, even if I don’t know if I’m completely legal when I talk about disappearing. Matthew Perry, That a little part of me is gone. Anyway, a big part of my career is turning the page and I’m very excited.

I really felt like I was almost playing Chandler in the flesh

Did you feel particularly close to Chandler’s character on Friends?

It’s funny because when I opened it in the first episode FriendsI didn’t really have a hard time getting into Chandler’s character. I felt very close Matthew Perry By his nature as an actor, by his acting, by his temperament, by his turmoil, by his breakdowns.

Perhaps that’s why the series had such an impact on people; I really felt like I was almost playing Chandler in the flesh. It’s not always easy when dubbing an actor to immediately put yourself in their shoes. but with Matthew PerryI immediately fell in love with his style of play.

What was your reaction when you first saw this actor on screen?

As I often say, when we start a series with a new actor, we don’t understand the phenomenon that the series will become. throughout the recording FriendsI realized what a phenomenal success it had become.

But I have always remained a professional voice actor. So I perceived the actor a little differently than the public than the fans. I stayed in my professional role as a voice actor.

The three returning characters are Chandler, Jim Carrey in a mask, and Simba.

How do you explain the love that the public has for these characters and that Friends has become a comfort series for millions of fans?

It’s a series about friendship, and above all, six actors form a kind of rock band. Mayonnaise melts immediately. Moreover, they were very close in friendship in real life, complicity was felt in every scene. Therefore, the success is not so surprising; Beyond friendship, the series talked about situations that affect almost everyone and where everyone can identify themselves.

Is Chandler one of the characters you talk about most at fan meetings?

Of course! Three recurring characters or actors who return Matthew Perry With Chandler, Jim Carrey, especially Mask and Simba in The Lion King. It’s funny because it all happened around the same time, 1994-1995. They are very distinctive characters.

The fact is that immediately on the way to the game Matthew PerryBlending into Chandler’s character also probably explains why he’s become so memorable to fans. When dubbing, we always want to get as close to the original as possible; I think I may have managed to catch his game and that’s what upset the French public.
