Tonight on TV: Robert Downey Jr. should have won the Oscar for Best Actor for this impeccable biopic

The son of actors, Robert Downey Jr. has been appearing on film sets since he was 5 years old. After his parents’ divorce, he lived with his mother in Los Angeles and managed to integrate into Hollywood. After a few supporting roles, he headlined The Pick-Up Artist, then gained attention as a young drug addict in Snow on Beverly Hills. Since then, she has co-starred with American celebrities in films such as Guilty Likeness, Air America and TV Washes Cleaner.

In 1992, Richard Attenborough chose her to play the title role in Chaplin – an evocation of the life and artistic adventures of Charles Chaplin, from the age of 5 to his death at the age of 88. The filmmaker fully trusts Robert Downey Jr. to embody this icon on the screen, unlike the heads of the Universal studio, who preferred Robin Williams or Billy Crystal.

Then the actor completely invested in his role: he watched all Chaplin’s films, learned to play tennis with his left hand, play the violin, and also encouraged the coach to imitate the famous wandering pose. And it’s clear that the film is essentially based on his incredible performance.

Robert Downey Jr. was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor. But the prestigious statue was awarded to Al Pacino for his role as Frank Slade in Weekend Time. On the other hand, Robert Downey Jr. won a BAFTA in the same category.
