Accident in Rio Branco this Sunday, 29, killed all 12 occupants of the plane
The plane that crashed near the runway of Rio Branco international airport, in Acre, killing 12 people this Sunday, 29th, had already been involved in another accident, in 2008.
The Caravan Cessna 208B model aircraft, with prefix PT-MEE, belonging to the ART Táxi Aéreo company, crashed this morning shortly after take-off. Twelve people died: pilot, co-pilot, nine adults and an infant. The plane would travel from Rio Branco to the city of Envira, in Amazonas.
Previous accident
The accident occurred on 1 July 2008 in Rurópolis, Pará, according to the report of the Center for the Investigation and Prevention of Aviation Accidents (CENIPA) released by Approximately 24 hours, the plane leaked engine oil during the flight and was forced to make an emergency landing on a road. Following the maneuver, the plane collided with several obstacles. The pilot and co-pilot escaped the accident unharmed.
The greatest damage occurred to the aircraft, mainly to the engine, fuselage, left wing and control surface. Among the causes of the accident, the report highlighted maintenance problems. Cenipa’s report was finalized on March 22, 2012.
